"Have you been to Mexico City?"   "Yes, I have. Many times."

"Have you ever been to Japan?"   "No, I've never been to Japan."

 

have been / have played / have driven, etc., is the present perfect(have+ past participle)

I have played(=I've played) we have not lived(=I haven't lived) he has visited(=he's visited) she has not read(=she hasn't read)

have I played? have we lived? has he visited? has she read?

 

play → I have played

live → I have lived

visit → she has visited

 

buy → I bought / I have bought

have → he had / he has had

 

break → I broke / I have broken

see → you saw / you have seen

 

   "Have you (ever) been to Japan?"↓
